Sand in Your . . . Ears?

Maybe I shouldn't confess to this, but after five days and three baths, I STILL found sand in Darwin's ears from his first trip to the beach. It started out cloudy and smoggy, but by the time we left, it was full blown Cali weather. Gorgeous. Darwin loved the sand. He was a little apprehensive at first, but we helped him crawl right in and then there was no stopping him. He liked the water somewhat, too, but I think when the little waves came in and it suddenly got deeper, it scared him and he decided to go back to crawling in and eating sand. :)

After a wave encounter. (We didn't really put him in a wave, but I can't think of the word.)

Building a sand castle? :) Mostly just wanted to have a picture of the palm trees--love them!

I tried skimboarding. We borrowed a skimboard and a boogie board from Bruce and Sherri, our friends who we're staying with. I was pretty unsuccessful, but I was excited to try. Michael was much more successful with boogie boarding.

You got caught in a High tide huh? I loved having the waves crash over me in Hawaii! Never been to the California coast.
