D Thugz Reunion +1

Michael's Grandma Christensen meeting Darwin for the first time.
Last weekend, we drove up to Provo to see Britney, Landon, and Grandma, and to take a stroll down memory lane. Literally every street corner had a memory connected to it. There was Provo High's football field where Ashley kicked me in the face while playing touch football (or, more accurately, where I fell on her foot--ha!), and Kneader's, where we ate unlimited fat french toast with Britney outside in the snow because there was no where to sit inside. We passed Provo Library, where my work held its biggest children's books conference and gave Michael and I the few coveted leftover raspberry rolls.

We drove by Brick Oven, where Michael got hit by a car while riding bikes with Britney when we had been married for a couple months or so; and then there was our first "summer home" (a mens apartment rented to couples only for the summer) where Britney ran in to drop off her bike, pick up the car keys, and tell me my husband had been hit by a car and she was going to go get him. Then she ran out in her hurry to retreive Michael and his bike, leaving me to wonder the worst, and I thought for sure I was going to be a 20-year-old widow. Ha. :) (Sorry, Britney--it is just so funny now. No wonder your Dad cautioned on the day of our wedding that we needed to ALWAYS have insurance. He didn't say it just once.) :)

We took a trip to the bookstore and passed the food court in the WILK. That was where Michael and the Sports Camps guys would order their lunch at Taco Bell and wait expectantly for their "name" to be called and the worker to say loudly, "Dennis Rodman!" or "Al Sharpton!" or "Mike Tyson!" only to immediately realize he'd been punked while they all laughed at each others' surprise name selections. (They chose a theme, like controversial African Americans, and then each of them individually told the Taco Bell worker the name when he/she took the order. Then they waited for the other unknowing worker to call their name and to hear what each other had put.) For me, it was where Richard met up with me freshmen year--we had to plan it well in advance since I didn't have a cell phone--and I "took him out" on my freshmen dining card. That was part of the deal for him convincing Mom and Dad that they should get the more pricey plan. (Thanks, Mom and Dad! And thanks, Rich!) :
Cherry Limeade Floats!!
There was so much more and based on all the memories that Provo evoked for me, I'm pretty sure between the two of us, we must've walked every foot of BYU campus and the surrounding two blocks, at least.

It was so fun strolling down Memory Lane that we decided to re-live one of our fun memories--D Thugz 'N Harmony! Let me give you a brief history. D Thugz was formed during a testing week, September 2006. The original members were myself, Michael, and Britney. The objectives of the group were to (1) take a break from studying, (2) have fun, and (3) create high quality music videos that were rated "F" for family. As in our family. As in ONLY our family. Ha. Sound familiar? That was the same rating given to the recent "Hard Working Man" video Darwin and I made for Michael. Things really took off for D Thugz during December 2006's Finals Week, where they created their first holiday hit, "Carol of the Chris." Through the years, D Thugz has incorporated many more members, songs, and killer dance moves. And last weekend, they welcomed Landon to the group of Thuggerz.

D Thugz Reunion!!
In addition to reminiscing and re-living the "good ol' days," we made some new fun memories--swinging and playing some softball, seeing Grandma, and, of course, watching the Cougars win.
Getting our swing on with Darwin
Landon was being a super uncle and trying to give Darwin some shade. . . .
and then he fell.
Getting geared up for the game

Our seats were awesome--5th row--but right behind George Q. . . .

. . . George Q. Cannon, that is. We covered Darwin's ears after every BYU TD, since that's when the cannon went off. I think the noise made us jump a lot more than him.

Go Cougs!

Darwin got a picture with Cosmo! Ha. :)

Just had to put this in, even though it's blurry, to show what a trooper this kid is--4th quarter and still smiling! (And this was a night game that started 15 minutes PAST his bedtime. We are lucky parents.)

The next morning--check out that sweet jersey! :)

Darwin was asleep for the D Thugz music video, but he got in on the action when we got "home" to Cedar City. Totally unchoreographed! This kid's got moves! :)

Nice you could reunite the old crew! Love Darwin's moves. I taught uncle Paul to come feed the fishies the other day, too.

Waah, we want to come to Provo and go to a BYZoo came, too.

PS, did you drive by the old flag football field where Draney broke his finger right out of the skin? Ryan and I were just reminiscing that special event...blech.

He definitely has a future with D Thugs! Can't wait for he and Scooter to get together for a "Rock Out."
